The Family that Runs Together

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Mizuno.
The opinions and text are all mine.

Early last spring my daughter and I were discussing our upcoming summer vacation to
Hilton Head Island and we decided it would be fun to run the HHI 4th of July Firecracker 5k
together as a family. We had never done anything like that before and I had not run forever,
but I agreed it would be fun, so I started training in March.

I decided to download the Couch to 5k app on my iPhone to get me motivated and it worked
like a charm! It was very motivating, told me exactly how long to walk or run and cheered
me on along the way. I trained 4-5 times a week running for 2 to 3 miles each day and by
July I was ready. Sometimes my daughter and I would run together, which I loved. We
motivated each other and it was a nice time to talk and catch up with each other too.

On July 4th my husband, daughter and I ran our first 5k as a family and we were hooked!
I love our family time together, the excitement of picking up our race packets the night
before a race and cheering for each other on race day.

So far this year we have run three 5k's, one 4-miler on Thanksgiving morning and we
just signed up for a New Year's Eve Glow Run. We have race fever and I love it!

I've worn a few different brands of running shoes over the years, which have all been fine,
but I was recently given the opportunity to try a brand that was new to me and I can
honestly say they are the most comfortable running shoes I have ever worn.

I've been wearing the Mizuno Wave Rider 21 running shoes for a couple of weeks now
and I love the way the soft cushioning is gentle on my joints as a run. I'm 55, so I have
a few more aches and pains from exercise than I did in my younger days, but since
wearing the Wave Rider 21 running shoes, I haven't experienced near as much soreness
in my feet and legs as I used to! I'm definitely a fan! It almost feels like there are shock
absorbers in the heels, cushioning my feet as a run.

You may have thought a brand like Mizuno was only for long distance runners, but they
have been great for a beginner runner like me as well. They're the first pair of shoes I
grab when I know I'm going out for a little run.

This has been such a great year of exercising, keeping fit and finding an activity that we
all enjoy doing together. Our daughter has her own place now, so we don't get to see
her quite as often, so we cherish this time together and the fact that she likes doing
things with her mom and dad! That's enough motivation to keep me running for awhile!
