Mini Chocolate Candy Coated Donuts

It's Halloween week!  Time to break out all of the candy!
While I've never really been a fan of dressing up in costume for Halloween, I am
a fan of making sweet treats and handing them out to friends and neighbors.

I was recently introduced to UnReal chocolates and now I can't get enough!
UnReal products are free of artificial colors and chemicals.  They use only real
ingredients that taste great and I like that a lot. Today I am using them to top my
chocolate dipped mini donuts.

Mini desserts have always been my favorite, so to celebrate this week of tricks and
treats, I broke out my mini donut maker and made mini chocolate candy coated donuts.
Donuts dipped in chocolate and topped with UnReal dark chocolate peanut butter
cups and candy coated milk chocolate are a perfect treat any time of year!

The last time I used this donut maker, we were snowed in and we made birthday cake
mini donuts.  I'm happy that only the leaves are falling so far this fall!

If you don't own a mini donut maker, you could certainly bake the donuts in an oven
using a donut pan.  My mom bought me the donut maker a couple of years ago. It is so
quick and convenient and makes the cutest little donuts!

While these mini donuts are bite-sized sweet treats, I made them healthier by using
Stonyfield Greek yogurt instead of buttermilk and using only a 1/2 cup of brown sugar.
The texture is more like a muffin since they are baked instead of fried, but make no
mistake, they still taste delicious!

Happy Halloween!
I hope your week is full of treats instead of tricks!

Mini Chocolate Candy Coated Donuts

1 1/2 C all-purpose flour
1/2 C light brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
dash of nutmeg
1 large egg
3 T unsalted butter, melted
1/4 C milk (I used 2%)
2/3 C Stonyfield Greek Yogurt (plain or vanilla)
1 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Note:  I used BabyCakes Donut Maker for this recipe.  You could also use a mini donut pan and bake them in the oven at 350 degrees.  The amount of time will depend upon the size of your donut pan.

In a medium mixing bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda
and nutmeg.  In a large mixing bowl combine egg, butter, milk, yogurt and vanilla.
Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet, mixing just until combined.

Preheat mini donut maker. Spray with cooking spray.
Spoon batter into a large disposable piping bag. Pipe batter into donut molds, filling 3/4 full.
Bake donuts for 4-5 minutes, or until lightly browned.  Place baked donuts onto a wire
cooling rack.

Chocolate Glaze:
1 C chocolate chips
1/4 C milk
UnReal candy coated milk chocolate, roughly chopped
UnReal dark chocolate peanut butter cups, chopped

In a microwave safe bowl heat the milk for about 45 seconds.  Add chocolate chips
and let sit for 2 minutes.  Stir until smooth.

Dip cooled donuts into chocolate glaze.  Top with chopped UnReal candy coated milk
chocolates and Unreal dark chocolate peanut butter cups.  Chocolate glaze will set up
as it cools.

Yield - 24 mini donuts
