Heart-Shaped Bird Feeders {DIY}

Birdseed heart for Valentine's Day
I've been feeling extra crafty lately - making essential oil diffuser bracelets and diffusers
for your car. Sitting in my office/craft room and creating is so relaxing and satisfying.
I don't take the time to do it often enough!

Paint and Shake Christmas Ornaments

Paint and Shake Ornaments

Let's get crafty!
There's just something about the holidays that gets me into a crafty mood.
I don't know why - it's not like I don't have a million other things to do, but cleaning,
baking and shopping can wait. Let's make some cute new ornaments for the tree!

DIY Snow Globe Christmas Ornament

Isn't this bottle brush tree snow globe ornament the cutest!

Last week while browsing around Michael's I noticed these clear, open front plastic
ornaments and thought they would be a fun craft to make with Madison. Her fiancé
was out of town for the weekend so she came over to stay with us and it was so nice
to have her back home.

DIY Beaded Cocktail Picks

Did you happen to notice the beaded cocktail picks I used on the silver dollar
buttermilk pancakes in my Mother's Day brunch post?
Aren't they cute!

DIY Beaded Food Picks

A few people have asked me where I got them, so I thought I would write a
little post about them. I pinned the idea last year from The View from Great Island.

Washi Tape Crafts {Book Review}

I was recently asked if I would like to review a book titled Washi Tape Crafts:
Take a look at this photo from my craft room - what do you think my answer
was?

I may have a slight washi tape obsession :)

Wine Cork Spools {for Baker's Twine}

I have in insane amount of craft supplies in my office.
For real.
And I'm not even a legit crafter.
Sure I like to make cute things when I have time, but most of the time baking,
stalking Instagram and watching Nashville trumps crafting for me :)

I also have hundreds of wine corks.
Don't ask why.

Anyhoo - I decided I could put some of those wine corks to good use by helping to
organize all the random piles of Baker's Twine I have lying around.

I love Baker's Twine!
Maybe because I'm a baker :)

DIY Fabric Twist Ties

In case you were worried, no this has not turned into a craft blog.
The recipes will be back soon I promise!

Actually this will probably be my last crafty post for awhile since
1) I'm over it
and
2) I'm not really that crafty.
I just like making cute stuff every now and then.

Speaking of cute stuff.
Did any of you make DIY tile coasters?
I'm loving mine!

While rummaging through my craft stash for supplies to make the tile coasters I rediscovered my fabric basket.  Why a person who can not sew a straight line buys so much fabric is another story.  But hey, I did find fabric glue and wire and that gave me an idea.

If I cut strips of fabric and glued them together with a piece of thin wire inside,
I would have adorable twist ties, just like you use for a loaf of bread, except prettier, and
much larger of course :)

As usual I did not take step by step photos, but it's easy peasy I promise.
Just cut fabric strips and a piece of wire the same length.
Apply fabric glue along edge of fabric.
Lay wire on glue and fold fabric over, pressing to seal.
Let them dry and then trim the edges.
You're done!

Now you have cute twist ties to use when gifting treats to friends and neighbors.
I added a pom pom to this package of tile coasters for extra cuteness :)

I hope you have enjoyed my mini craft series.
Now it's time for me to get back to showing my pink mixer some love!

Have a great week my sweet friends!

DIY Tile Coasters

I've been in a crafty mood lately.
You may have noticed this with all of my pom pom madness!

I enjoy making crafts on occasion if they are easy to complete and if I think I will actually use them.  While rummaging through my craft supply stash I found some white ceramic tiles that I had purchased from Lowes a couple of years ago.  I also found half of a bottle of Modge Podge that's been around since who knows when.  So I grabbed my Rubbermaid container full of scrapbook paper (because a girl can never have too much scrapbook paper) and decided to whip up some diy tile coasters.

Remember when tile coasters were all the craft rage?
Well I'm bringing them back :)

I wish I could show you some fancy tutorial on how I made these pretty little coasters, but I
was deep into my latest Hulu addiction, The Good Wife, so I was watching an episode or two while crafting instead of taking step by step photos.
My bad.
(Does anyone even say that any more? )

Luckily there are a ton of craft bloggers out there that do offer step-by-step tutorials like this one.
I think they turned out pretty darn cute and I will definitely use them!

For the love of Pom Poms!

Those of you who follow me on Instagram (meandmypinkmixer) have probably noticed
that I have a slight obsession with pom poms lately.

I can not stop making them.
For real.
I am whipping out pom poms like there's no tomorrow :)

I'm using a Clover pom pom maker that I purchased at Michael's with a 40% off coupon.
It helps you make perfect pom poms every time.

So far I have made pom pom bookmarks.

A bouquet of pom pom flowers.

And a  pom pom wreath for my front door.

Here are some other pom pom projects that I think are adorable.
You can bet I will be making all of these soon!!

And last, but not least, a pom pom chair!

Got to run.
There are pom poms to make!

Cinnamon Applesauce Holiday Ornaments

Recently while trying to organize some of my recipes, I ran across an oldie - cinnamon applesauce holiday ornaments.

I first made these 10-15 years ago and can't believe I forgot all about them.
They make your house smell amazing while they are baking and the aroma continues all through the holidays when you hang them on your tree. They are super easy to make and would be a fun project with the kids.

All you need is applesauce, ground cinnamon and some ribbon, yarn or bakers twine to hang them.
I purchased the cinnamon and applesauce from the Dollar Store because it takes at lot of cinnamon.
The project only cost $3.

Let's get started.

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.
Pour 1 cup of ground cinnamon into a large mixing bowl.
Add 1 cup of applesauce and stir....alot.
Once that is combined add more cinnamon (1/2 cup).
I also added 1 T ground cloves, but that is optional.
Keep mixing and mixing and mixing.
I rolled up my sleeves and started mixing with my hands.
You don't want the dough to be too wet or too dry.
It takes awhile for it to all get mixed together, so don't get discouraged.
If you feel it is too wet add more cinnamon.  Too dry?  Add more applesauce.
I didn't need to add any additional.

Once you have it well mixed, sprinkle some cinnamon onto your counter top and then begin rolling out the dough.  I used mini hearts and star cookie cutters that were about 1 inch in size.

I wanted the edges on mine to be smooth, not like the ones pictured above, so I patted around the edges of each one before I placed them on the baking sheet.
Tedious I know, but I'm OCD like that :)

Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat.
You don't need to space them too far apart from each other because the dough will not rise or expand.
Poke a hole through the dough for the string.
I used a plastic straw-like coffee stirer.
Once they are all cut out and holes are punched, place them in the oven.
Bake for 1- 1/2 hours.  Turn off the oven and leave them in over night.
The next day they should be ready to use.

Use yarn, ribbon or bakers twine to hang them on your tree or to add a festive touch to a package.
This recipe made 104 mini ornaments.

Don't they look pretty!

Fun with Chalkboard Contact Paper

I've been a little obsessed with chalkboard contact paper lately.
It's just so fun to use - I can't help myself!

I picked some up this summer at Michael's when I had a 40% off coupon that was burning a hole in my pocket :)

Aren't these food labels so cute! I used them at the baby shower I recently hosted.
They were so easy to make.

I bought the wood rectangles at Michael's and the sticks are recycled Starbuck's coffee sticks.  I painted them both with white craft paint, glued the sticks onto the back of the wood and then cut the chalkboard paper to fit.  Just stick the chalkboard paper on the wood rectangle and write on them with chalk.  I prefer chalk pens - they are brighter than regular chalk and are easy to write with.

Next I made labels for my kitchen canisters.
I used this Marvy paper punch that I also purchased from Michael's.

I've been labeling every thing I can get my hands on.
Send help soon :)

Cute and Easy Father's Day Gift

I thought I would take a little break from my pink mixer and show you an easy, inexpensive idea for a Father's Day gift.  My daughter and I did this little project last year and my husband really loved it.
I picked up the wooden letters from Michael's.  We took several photo's and then decided which ones looked best placed in this triple frame.  I thought it turned out really cute and we had fun making it for him.

Lollipop Bouquet

Like a lot of you, I have been trying to make healthier food choices for the new year and therefore, I have not been baking as much as I have been. Don't worry though, I'm sure I will be back at it again soon enough :) I've been putting my creativity to use by making crafts - they are fat free and so much fun! In addition to my recipe addiction, I also have a huge pile of craft ideas that I get from blogs, magazines, etc. I don't even remember where I saw this one, but I thought it was a great idea! My friend Jaclyn is the big 30 today, so I made this for her and delivered it to her office - I think she'll be surprised! I purchased the silver bucket from the Dollar Bin at Target a couple of months ago and the lollipops came from the Dollar Tree. I put floral foam in the bottom and covered it with confetti paper and then wrapped curling ribbon around most of the lollipops to make it prettier. I think it turned out pretty cute. Happy Birthday Jaclyn!!

Christmas Banner

I thought I would take a break from baking and get a little crafty for the holidays. I have seen these banners on Etsy for birthday celebrations and thought one would look cute hanging from our mantle for our Christmas party. Katydid and Kid has a great tutorial if you want to make one too. I used Circus font for mine and picked up some cute Christmas scrapbook paper from Michael's. Sorry my pictures aren't the best, but I have a crappy camera. I was hoping to get a nice, new camera for Christmas, but we are getting a new roof for our house instead :(
Maybe next year Santa!
